{:de}Ein Wochenende in Berlin – als ich die Einladung vom Chamäleon Theater in meinem Postfach fand, war ich gleich hin und weg. Das wichtigste an so einem Kurztrip: ein zentrales Hotel durch das man sämtliche Dinge auf der To-Do-Liste schnell und am besten zu Fuß erreichen kann und dennoch auch schnell wieder am Flughafen ist, schließlich will man so viel Zeit wie möglich in Berlin haben! Ich habe daher im NH Collection direkt beim Bahnhof Friedrichstraße geschlafen!

Hohe Betten, bequeme Kissen und eine gute Auswahl in der Minibar – damit kann man mich meistens sehr schnell begeistern. Dazu ein paar Blumen, eine Badewanne und Schokolade am Kopfkissen und ich bin hin und weg. Das NH Collection hat mich mehr als positiv überrascht.
Die Lage – Friedrichstraße, Berlin Mitte
Direkt am Bahnhof Friedrichstraße in Berlin Mitte kann man vom NH Collection Friedrichstraße sämtliche Sehenswürdigkeiten Berlins ganz schnell erreichen. So sind Theresa und ich gleich nach der Ankunft ins Soy und zum Alexanderplatz zu Fuß gegangen und auch am nächsten Tag spazierte ich zuerst zum Brandenburgertor und zum Holocaust Denkmal. Die S-Bahnen fahren zu den Flughäfen und es gibt gleich nebenan ein richtig süßes Eisgeschäft, einen Starbucks (es ist schließlich Pumpkin Spice Latte-Season!) Wer in Shopping-Laune ist (und da die meisten Dinge bei DM in Deutschland viel günstiger sind als bei uns in Österreich sollte das gleich nutzen), hat sämtliche Geschäfte gleich vor der Tür.
Das Hotel
Modern und zuvorkommend: das beschreibt es glaube ich ganz gut. Auch wenn es an der Rezeption manchmal ein wenig langsam voran ging, konnte man sich mit Keksen, Zitronen-Wasser und Gummibärchen an einer kleinen Bar neben der Rezeption die Zeit totschlagen. Einmal an der Reihe nahmen sich die Rezeptionisten aber richtig lange für einen Zeit, und das ist es ja worauf es schlussendlich ankommt. Im allgemeinen hab ich mich sehr willkommen gefühlt, einzig die Lobby und der Speisesaal wirken meiner Meinung nach einfach ein wenig zu kalt und ein wenig unpersönlich. Aber das ist wirklich Geschmackssache, ich fühle mich in kleineren Hotels einfach wohler.
Das Zimmer
Wie schon erwähnt: das Bett. Ich weiß nicht welche Kissen das sind, aber gleich beim hinlegen wusste ich, die brauche ich zu Hause! Dazu die hohe, wirklich superbequeme Matratze und habe so gut geschlafen wie schon lange nicht mehr. Vielleicht lag es auch daran, dass ich in letzter Zeit viel gearbeitet habe und kaum vor halb 2 ins Bett kam. Nach ein paar anstrengenden Tagen bin ich also in die Kissen gefallen. Aber nicht ohne die Schokolade auf dem Kissen zu bemerken, die das Housekeeping auf das Kissen gelegt hat. Die Vorhänge waren zugezogen und das Bett fertig gemacht. Da fühlt man sich wirklich wie eine Prinzessin! Achja, und die Minibar! Mein Lieblings-Gin stand dort bereit, dazu Chili-Limetten-Chips und wirklich leckere Nüsse. Und wer den Kaffee beim Frühstück nicht erwarten kann, hat eine Nespresso-Maschine gleich daneben.
Das Frühstück
Um eine Stadt wie Berlin zu erkunden muss man auf jeden Fall gut frühstücken. Da ich ja auch einen Foodguide für euch schreiben wollte, hab ich mich beim Frühstücksbuffet im NH Collection aber zurückgehalten, schließlich musste ich noch jede Menge andere Lokale testen!
Die Auswahl ist aber ziemlich groß: englisches Frühstück, frisches Obst und Gemüse, Aufstriche, Wurst und Käse, jede Menge Säfte und Smoothies, eine große Teeauswahl und richtig leckeren Kaffee um perfekt in den Tag zu starten. Außerdem gab es frische Pancakes und die größte Brotauswahl, die ich je bei einem Hotelfrühstück gesehen habe.
Pros
- Die supernetten Mitarbeiter, angefangen beim Housekeeping, die mich retteten als ich mich aus meinem Zimmer aussperrte.
- Die leckeren Smoothies beim Frühstück und die Snacks im allgemeinen. In der Lobby warten Kekse auf die Gäste, wenn man bei der Rezeption warten muss.
Cons
- Ich bin eine kleine Frostbeule, da konnte selbst die Heizung nicht helfen, da muss ich leider einen kleinen Abzugspunkt geben
- Und wenn wir schon bei Kälte sind: außer dem Zimmer ist das Hotel im allgemeinen recht kühl. Das Interior-Design ist mir persönlich zu kalt und steril, aber das ist nur meine persönliche Meinung.

{:}{:en}A weekend in Berlin – when I got the invitation from the Chamäleon Theatre I was so excited and couldn’t wait to get there. The most important thing when it comes to short-trips: a well-located hotel so you can get everywhere you want really quick but also be quick at the airport, so you can spent as much time as possible to explore the city. With a hotel at station Friedrichstraße I had all of this and so I slept at the NH Collection Friedrichstraße.
Those are a few of my favorite things
High mattresses, comfortable pillows and a good selection at the minibar – and I’m into it. Plus: fresh flowers, a bathtub and chocolate at the pillow at the evening and I’m in love. The NH Collection suprised me so much!
The surounding – Friedrichstraße, Berlin Mitte
Next to the station Friedrichstraße in Berlin Mitte you can reach nearly every sightseeing-spot by foot. On our first evening Theresa and I walked from the NH Collection to the Soy and to Alexanderplatz and on the next day I took a walk to Brandenburger Tor and the Holocaust monument. The trains at the station bring you back to the airports really fast and next to the hotel is a cute gelateria, a starbucks (hey, it’s Pumpkin Spice Latte-season!) and a lot of shops.
The hotel
Modern and courteous: I think that describes it very good. Although I had to wait from time to time at the reception, you can have cookies, lemon-water and gummibears while waiting. Once it’s your turn the staff is really helpfull and friendly and takes time for you. And this is the most important thing I think. All in all I felt really welcome, except the lobby and the dining-room felt a bit too cold and unpersonal to me. But that’s just my opinion, I just love little boutique hotels too much.
The room
First things first: the bed. I don’t know what pillows they have in the NH Collection, but I want them too. They are so perfect and have the right size and amount for every person, I felt asleep in 2 minutes. Plus the high mattresses! I havn’t slept that good in weeks. To be honest: maybe it’s also because I worked a lot in the last weeks! But before I felt asleep I realized that my bed was ready for sleeping, little chocolate nips waited for me on the pillows and the curtains were tightened. Oh, and the mini-bar! My favorite gin, chili-lime-crisps, delicous nuts and a nespresso-coffeemachine – you don’t need anything else!
The breakfast
To be ready for exploring a city like Berlin you need one thing: a good breakfast. Because I wanted to write a foodguide I restrained at the breakfast buffet this time, there were so many breakfast spots to try! But I took a look at the NH Collection breakfast too. The selection is quiet big: english breakfast, fresh fruits and vegetables, cheese and sausage, pancakes, a huge tea-selection, juices and smoothies and the biggest bread-selection I’ve ever seen at a hotel breakfast.
To sum it up briefly:
Pros
- The super-friendly staff, starting at the reception till the housekeeping, who saved me after I managed to locked me out of my hotel room.
- The delicious smoothies at the breakfast and the snacks in general. The cookies at the reception, the selection at the minibar and of course the chocolate at night.
Cons
- I’m a little frostbite and for me it was just a little bit too cold in this hotel.
- Talking from coldness: apart from the lovely hotel room, the hotel was a little too frosty. The interior design is a bit too cool for my opinion, but that’s just my personal opinion.
