Es ist wieder so weit, ich stelle euch wieder mal ein neues Hotel vor, in dem ich mich unglaublich wohl gefühlt habe und zwar ist es diesmal das Pulitzer Hotel in Rom. Ich habe zwar nur eine Nacht dort verbracht, die anderen Nächte habe ich bei einer meiner Mädels geschlafen, die gerade in Rom studiert (Mädels-Abende müssen einfach sein, wenn man sich so lange nicht gesehen hat!). Diesen einen Tag im Hotel habe ich allerdings sehr genossen, Whirlpool mit Blick über die Stadt und superleckeren Frühstücksbuffet inklusive! Die Lage
Das Pulitzer Hotel liegt etwas außerhalb der Innenstadt bei der U-Bahn Station Marconi, die Station ist nur 3 Minuten zu Fuss vom Hotel aus entfernt. Von hier aus ist man in circa 15-20 Minuten in der Innenstadt, aber es liegt eigentlich ziemlich nahe vom Colloseum. Vielleicht ein kleiner Nachteil, weil man die Stadt nicht zu Fuss aus entdecken kann, aber andererseits war es auch wirklich schön ruhig und die Gegend ist wirklich sehr nett! Knapp 2 Kilometer entfernt ist zum Beispiel die Basilica San Paolo, die ich euch wirklich nur empfehlen kann!
Die Aussicht
Eine bessere Aussicht hätte wahrscheinlich gar nicht haben können. Mein Balkon führte wirklich einmal um das ganze Haus und ich hatte freien Blick auf Rom. Ich stand für mein Video sogar um 6 Uhr morgens auf um den Sonnenaufgang zu sehen und es hat sich ausgezahlt. Rechts der Blick auf die Stadt, links ein paar Felder und natürlich das beste an dem Hotel: der Whirlpool mit Aussicht im 5. Stock.
Das Zimmer
Mein Zimmer war im 6. Stock und war wirklich sehr großzügig. Eigentlich war es sogar zweistöckig, denn über eine kleine Treppe kam ich erst zum ziemlich großen Badezimmer. Außerdem wartete ein riesiges, extrem kuscheliges Bett auf mich. Ich komme nicht ganz mit der Bettenmach-Technik der Italiener klar, denn ich musste mir vor dem Schlafen gehen erstmal einen Kampf mit den Laken liefern. Einmal gewonnen, habe ich aber tief und fest geschlafen und wollte gar nicht mehr aufstehen am nächsten Morgen.
Im Schrank in meinem Zimmer fand ich einen flauschigen Bademantel, mit dem ich mich gleich auf den Weg zum Whirlpool. Das Wasser war etwas kühl, deswegen wurde aus dem Plantschen eher nur ein Füßewacken (wie man hier in Österreich sagt). Mit Blick über Rom war das der perfekte Start für meine Rom-Reise.
Das Frühstück
„Das Frühstück ist die wichtigste Mahlzeit des Tages“. Nun ja, in Italien ist das eher das Abendessen. Aber wenn man schon die Chance auf ein Frühstücksbuffet hat, kann man das doch nicht auslassen, finde ich. Das Bett war ein wenig zu weich und kuschelig und so habe ich das Frühstück wieder mal fast verschlafen. Es gab wirklich alles was ich gerne esse: viel Gemüse und Obst, Croissants und Gebäck, eine riesige Auswahl von Müslis und Toppings, Baked Beans und allem drum und dran. Während ich so beim Frühstück saß, kam eine Familie rein, die mich schon in der Früh ziemlich zum lachen gebracht haben. Sie stellten sich in einer Reihe auf, Jausenboxen bereit und schaufelten so viel hinein, wie nur ging. Dann Kaffee in die Thermoskanne und Abmarsch. Ich finde ja, dass wenn man schon so schön Frühstücken kann, man doch genießen muss. Auch wenn es heißt ein bisschen früher dafür aufzustehen. Ein kleines Lachen konnte ich mir bei ihnen dennoch nicht verkneifen.
Das Hotel
Gleich nach dem Check-In habe ich mal das ganze Hotel erkundet und muss sagen, dass mir der Stil aus den 70er Jahren und modernen Stücken wirklich sehr gut gefällt. Von außen wirkt das Hotel vielleicht ein bisschen unscheinbar, aber wie sagt man so schön: „Die inneren Werte zählen!“. Mein Zimmer war noch nicht ganz fertig, als ich ankam. Ich war bei der Buchung des Flugs sehr motiviert gewesen und nahm schon um 6:30 den ersten Flug von Wien nach Rom und war natürlich dann viel zu früh fürs Check-In im Hotel. Mit einem Kaffee auf der Terrasse war das aber überhaupt kein Problem.
Bei der Rezeption wurde ich gleich von Joe, dem Cocker Spaniel begrüßt. Ganz entspannt lag er hinter der Rezeption in einem Körbchen und nachdem die Rezeptionistin merkte, wie süß ich ihn fand, lockte sie ihn mit ein paar Leckerlis zu mir und meine Koffer wurden gleich von ihm inspiziert und für nicht gefährlich empfunden. Kaum zu glauben, dass ich vor ein paar Jahren noch Angst vor Hunden hatte. Irgendwie konnte ich das aber ablegen und inzwischen verdrehen meine Freunde regelmäßig die Augen, weil ich einfach jeden Hund auf der Straße süß finde.

It’s that time again: I want to tell you about a hotel, where I really enjoyed my stay. This time it’s the Pulitzer Hotel in Rome. Although I stayed only one night, the next ones I slept at the flat of the friend I visited (girls night-outs are an essential when you see each other again after months!). The location
The Pulitzer Hotel is located a little bit outside of the city-center at the metro-station Marconi, it’s only about 3 minutes away from the station. From here it takes 15-20 minutes till the city center, and it’s actually very close to the Colosseum. Maybe this is a con, because you can’t explore rome by foot from the hotel. But it was very quiet and the neighborhood was also really nice. About 2 kilometers away is the Basilica San Paolo, which I can only recommend you to visit.
The view
I could not have a better view from my hotel. The balcony was so big, that I had a view to all four cardinal points over rome. For my video, I got up at 6am to see the sunrise and it was worth it, really! On the right side the city, on the left some fields and of course the best part of the hotel: the whirlpool at the 5th floor, also with view over the city.
The room
My room was located in the 6th floor and it was huge. Actually I had two floors, because I had to take a few steps to get to the huge bathroom. And then this huge, very cozy bed. Only thing: I can’t come in terms with the way italians make the bed and so I had a little fight with the sheets before I felt asleep like a baby. I found a really cozy bathrobe in the wardrobe and decided to make a little break in the whirlpool. The water was a little bit to cold and so I only splashed my feet and enjoyed the short time in the Pulitzer Hotel.
The breakfast
„Breakfast is the most important meal of the day“. Well, in Italy it’s dinner, I guess. But when I have the chance for such a huge breakfast buffet I can’t say no. The bed was really cozy and so I nearly overslept the breakfast, as usual. But it was amazing, they had EVERYTHING: vegetables, fresh fruits, croissants and other pastries, a huge selection of cereals and granola and much more toppings, beaked beans and a lot more. While I was sitting there a family came in and they made me laugh so much: they lined up and everyone had a lunchbox and then they shovel as much food as possible in the little box. Then they decant some coffee in a thermos jug and they were good to go. In my opinion you have to enjoy and celebrate such a great breakfast when you have the chance, although this means to get up a little earlier.
The hotel
After the check-in I explored the hotel and I have to say, I really like this mix of 70s and modern interior. From the street the hotel maybe looks a little bit unimpressive, but purportedly the inner values count. My room wasn’t ready when I arrived. When I booked the flight I was really motivated and so I booked the first flight at 6:30 am from Vienna to Rome and of course I was way too early, as usual. But with a coffee at the terrace it was no problem at all. At the reception I got a warm welcome from Joe, the cocker spaniel. He was sleeping behind the reception in a little basket and after the receptionist realized that I really like dogs, she tempt him to me and he started to check my bags. I can’t believe that I was scared of dogs for a really long time, but since a few years I really love dogs and my friends roll their eyes regularly, because in my opinion every dog I see at the streets is cute.
